Growth and Fellowship for All (GAFFA)

Wednesday Evening Discipleship Opportunities

GAFFA runs through the school year (September-May)

Everyone is welcome!

Wednesday evenings are a time for everyone, whether you’ve never been to a Sunday service, or you’ve been here for 100 years. Exploring faith? You’re welcome. Been a disciple for years? You’re welcome. Young, old, and any age in between – you’re welcome too. We do what Jesus did, and love everyone!

So what happens at GAFFA? Like the name says…

We Have Fellowship Together

Our time together begins with a meal in our Christian Living Center (CLC) – also known as the gym. This is the large building closest to the gravel lot and route 146.

Meals are served from 5:30 to 7:30 at a cost of $5 for adults. Children are free. Can’t pay? come anyway.

Reservations are preferred, so please contact the church office at 502-241-8984 or email dena@crestwoodmethodist.com by Monday. If you don’t have a reservation, show up anyway!

We Grow Together

After our fellowship meal, Children’s programming begins at 6:00 PM and Youth Group, adult classes, and choir start at 6:30. Everything wraps up at 7:45 PM.

Groups are easy to find, and if you need help finding your way around campus, just ask anyone with a name tag!

Our studies vary throughout the year. Here’s our plan for October 2022:

Spiritual Gifts Bible Study

Pastor Russ – CLC Upward Journey Classroom

What are my spiritual gifts? Do they change? How can I use them, and maybe even get more? Curious about Spiritual Gifts? This 4-week study is the class for you!

Connections Class

(Starting October 12)

Pastor DEREK – CLC Heaven Bound Classroom

New to Crestwood United Methodist? Maybe you’ve been here for a while and are looking for a deeper connection? Join in this 3-week class and discover what it means to be United Methodist and get connected!

“The Chosen” Bible study

Torsten Hopp – CLC Open Door Classroom

Watch the episodes, read the Scriptures, and discuss them together as a group as we learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus in a fresh, new way together.

Hospitality Hour Hangout

Tom Carter – CLC at the dinner tables

If you had a long day, or a stressful week, or just want to relax and talk, simply hang out and chat after the meal.

Walking Group

Alicia Robinette – Meet at the CLC doors

Bring your walking shoes and try to keep up with the Pastor’s wife. Includes a devotional. Weather permitting.

Nursery

A nursery is available until 8:00 PM.

Children

Children, Kindergarten through 5th grades, will be growing in their faith in a variety of ways with our Children’s Pastor.   They will participate in activities and games and a Bible based curriculum each week.

Youth

Youth Group is for student’s 6th-12th grade. During this time students will engage in fellowship, activities and learning.  An interactive learning time, based on Scripture, will look at what students go through as they navigate adolescence.  We meet from 6:30-7:45 PM, leaving as a group from the CLC.

Cherub Choir

The Cherub Choir is made up of Preschoolers and sings regularly in morning worship and is always a treat!  Their repertoire includes Sunday School songs – some new and some that have been around for generations.

Children’s Choir – Joyful Noize!

The Children’s Choir has a long tradition of learning and presenting children’s music for both worship and special events.  The Children’s Choir meets weekly and prepares music for both morning worship and for children’s musicals.

Adult Choir

The adult choir meets in the choir room from 6:30 p.m. till 8:00pm. The choir is open to everyone college age and above, who loves to sing. No auditions and no experience reading music necessary. Come be a part of the Body of Christ through music in worship.
