Walk to Emmaus

The church has an active group of members who are involved in the Louisville Emmaus/Chrysalis Community as well as the local Resident Encounter Christ organization (an Emmaus-type experience for men and women in prison). The Emmaus Walks are held at Kavanaugh Life Enrichment center just up the road from the church. Emmaus is a program sponsored by the Upper Room of the general Board of discipleship of the United Methodist Church.

The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. Chrysalis is the youth version of Emmaus.

Military Connection

CUMC embodies a long term commitment to support relatives and friends of our church family who are in the military serving world-wide. We tailor the packages to include items most needed for their situation. This is particularly important for those in combat zones. We have male and female troops on our list and try to send items that are specific to each one. We mail packages once a month and most items are donated by our church members. One of the most anticipated time of the day for a soldier is mail call. Our troops are sacrificing a lot, and we hope our small contribution will bring a few moments of peace and happiness.

Upward Basketball

This program provides children and their parents the opportunity to learn the game of basketball. More importantly they learn about Jesus. During practices and games we all learn to love Jesus and each other. Upward Basketball is a wonderful opportunity for people to come together to share in sport and the Spirit.

Prison Ministries

Bridge Prison ministries is designed to help inmates have a smoother transition to a productive life back in the community through the study of God's word. Part of this program is to put in place a network of support groups for individuals once they are back in the community. At Christmas, CUMC members carol at the prison and distribute stockings with toiletries and basic needs.
